Yes, people will just farm with Prot Spirit or whatever.
Balancing around PvE is moronic. AI is dumb, the PvE is stupid with lots of single class mobs, of course people are going to farm it. Prot Bond nerf = pure idiocy.

Agreed. "Invincible monks" are just so popular because someone released a full tutorial on it. I know that Elementalists can solo farm UW easily too, but I'm not sure how effective it is. Even if they decide to turn all the UW creatures into level 30 Mesmers, effectively stopping any class from farming solo, people will just farm elsewhere and there will be a dominant build that does it better than all the rest. What they need to do is make questing more rewarding than any type of farming can be, then people will stop farming.

Power gamers who spend 4-5 hours (and more) a day will farm no matter what. For them, it is an addiction.

And I do think it is silly for Anet to change the game because of a pretty creative build. However, because so many copied the build it created unwanted wrinkles to the game including: a huge gap between the have and have-nots, the economy (specifically rune prices, ectos, shards), and allowing bots to farm a new area because of the build, not the ease of getting to chests, good dropping mobs, etc. Because of these undesired effects the build had to be nerfed.

lets see. so far we know from that screenshot that your new invicimonk build uses: essence bond, balthazars spirit, mending, and protective spirit. and with only 1 energy regen you're gonna be hurting for mp so lets go ahead and put bonetti's defence in there. anyone want to take a stab at the other half of this build?

This guy has no clue. It was the smiters solo that began to lower prices of items. They get so many items they sell em off cheaper and cheaper. They kept the prices of ecto down! Smiters did not spend the gold, often they are saving up for fissure armor... LIKE ME! and then the build is nerfed. Farming is possible, just not as good as it was, and now takes 10 times longer. Anyone who says yea! Your we ta did! Build your own damn monk and go smite! Don't hate because you never saved that much gold to buy those freaking runes!

W/in 10 minutes of the new patch, merchants were out of ecto and the price went upto the cap of 11k. Ppl were offering it for 50k. ANET your a bunch of idiots. Stop looking for shit that is not broke. You made some skills now almost worthless!

I know what you mean in terms of PvE balancing being annoying for PvP playing (healing hands) but it is an unfortunate reality with multiple play modes given the current state of PvE.

Prot bond, however, has a PvP-based argument as well. Ensign put forth this notion:

Enchantments that automatically win the game for you under most circumstances if not removed are inherently overpowered.
